Yellowstone Park Service Stations
Over three million people visited Yellowstone last year but only a handful were able to spend the summer living and working here. This is our invitation for you to apply to work and live here. A careful reading of this document will increase your understanding of Yellowstone Park Service Stations, Inc. (YPSS) and the jobs we have to offer. YPSS operates seven gasoline service stations, four automotive repair shops and an office and warehouse in Yellowstone. We enjoy the reputation of being a great employer and a great business partner. We're looking for capable, enthusiastic people who will bring us the energy and ideas to help us become an even better company. YPSS is an equal employment opportunity employer. It is our policy to hire the best qualified people who are available for our jobs without regard to their race, religion, creed, sex, age, national origin or disability. Any employee who feels they are being subjected to sexual or racial harassment is urged to immediately contact the YPSS General Manager. YPSS operates in Yellowstone to provide a service required by Park visitors. The principal Park visitation takes place from early June to early September. This results in a consistently high and often unpredictable volume of business. Persons visiting Yellowstone travel on all days of the week, and from first light of morning until after dark at night. To fulfill our commitment to provide full, quality service to these visitors, we must be able to count on all of our employees to work on any day of the week, on any holiday, and on a variety of shifts within a sixteen hour operating day. The work involves a great deal of public contact and requires that you be on your feet all day. Serving our customers on station driveways and in service areas, as well as helping to maintain and clean our places of business and dormitories, are all parts of the job. If you are employed, you will be expected and required to do your full share of all types of this labor. Our service must be so flexible that you will be asked to perform some tasks not specified in your formal employment agreement. Yellowstone Park attracts thousands of applicants and hundreds of contented employees annually. The high altitude, life in the open, and the mental rest which come from a change of work and environment, and a stimulating association with healthy, ambitious and intelligent people from all over the World - these elements have, in the judgment of a host of former employees, made the summer's work in Yellowstone the experience of a lifetime. The natural wonders of Yellowstone tend to attract quality people - the opportunity to work and live in this environment with such a concentration of quality people has drawn many back for a number of seasons.

GUNFLINT LODGE and GUNFLINT NORTHWOODS OUTFITTERS Employment section http://www.gunflint.com/employmentopportunities.html
General Information Between the two businesses we employ approximately 55 employees during the summer and 35 employees during the winter. Employees range in age from 18 to approximately 70 and come from all over the world. Take a moment to read the following. It will give you an idea of what Gunflint is like and our expectations of prospective employees. The lodge and canoe outfitters are located 45 miles up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais Minnesota. Thus 45 miles from the nearest town! We are surrounded by over 1 million acres of wilderness in the Superior National Forest. Guests come from all over the country to relax, fish, swim, canoe, and explore in the Northwoods atmosphere. The lodge summer season runs from late April to November 1. The winter season is from November 23 to April 1. During the off seasons we work on spring cleaning and renovation projects. The outfitting business is in operation from approximately May 1 to October 30. Over the years our guests have come to expect a friendly and helpful staff. They come to have a relaxed vacation and we're dependent on our staff to see that they have the best time possible. Often this means a little extra work, or time, to help a guest but we feel it's worth it and you should too! In order to maintain the level of our guest's expectations we've established certain standards that we expect you to abide by. All employees must appear neat and well groomed. We provide uniform shirts for the staff. A more detailed description of uniform and grooming requirements will be provided if you are hired. Perhaps the two most important qualities we look for in our employees are a cheerful attitude and the willingness to go the extra mile. Resort and outfitting work means long, hard, and sometimes irregular hours. It is certainly not a paid vacation. The schedules are set for 45 hours per week. Although you may be hired for a specific position there are times when you may be called upon to fulfill other job duties. In a resort atmosphere we all pitch in wherever necessary to get the job done. With that in mind, we are looking for applicants who are extremely flexible and like a variety of work. Most positions pay $1150.00 per month. Many of the positions at the Lodge also receive a bonus for completed contracts. (Outfitter and Wait/Housekeeping positions do not receive bonuses.) Employees become eligible for the bonus program by completing their contract. Recreational equipment is available for use at a minimal charge. However, all of our facilities are for guest's use first. Bunkhouse style accommodations are available, if desired, here on the grounds at the cost of $115.00 per person per month. This is for a bunkroom (shared with from 1-5 other people) including your utilities and cleaning supplies, toilet paper and Kleenex. Showers are down the hall. You are responsible for your own meals. There are shared cooking facilities for staff use. The use of drugs, and the abuse or underage use of liquor are not tolerated. There is a public Laundromat at the campground next door. We do not receive any TV or radio reception. You may bring your own TV/VCR or CD player if you like. (We also have a few employee trailer sites with full hookups - please inquire.) We hope that you'll join us in the Northwoods for a summer…or two. If you have any questions regarding the job opportunities feel free to contact Jamie Gish at (218) 388-2294 or 1-(800) 328-3325. You may also complete an on-line application or print a copy to complete and send to Human Resources, Gunflint Lodge, 143 S. Gunflint Lake, Grand Marais MN 55604, or you may fax it to us at (218) 388-9429.

NATIONAL PARK SERVICE
Temporary Employment http://www.sep.nps.gov/
Since its inception in 1916, the National Park Service has been dedicated to the preservation and management of this country’s outstanding natural, historical, and recreational resources. Today, the National Park Service encompasses more than 370 sites across the United States and in Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. There are parks of great natural beauty and grandeur, such as the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone; parks that preserve the nation’s cultural and historical treasures, as a Mesa Verde and Gettysburg Battlefield; and parks of significant national beauty along seashores, lakeshores, and riverways, providing opportunities for outdoor activities, such as Assateague Island and Lake Mead. The National Park Service is a bureau of the United States Department of the Interior. Every year, millions of people from the United States and abroad visit our national park areas. To protect park resources and to serve the public, the National Park Service employs a permanent workforce and an essential temporary workforce. Whether permanent or temporary, employees have the opportunity to learn more about the National Park Service system and its mission. Temporary jobs are very competitive. The number of applicants is usually far greater than the positions available every year, particularly at larger, well-known parks. Some positions are filled by experienced temporary employees who have worked previously for the National Park Service.
ABOUT TEMPORARY JOBS Pay Most temporary positions require irregular hours of work, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Entry-level grades for National Park Service temporary positions generally range from the GS-4 to the GS-7. For current salary information, please refer to the vacancy announcement for the position and park to which you are applying. Uniforms Most temporary employees are required to wear the official National Park Service uniform; specific requirements and ordering information are contained in the employment package forwarded to applicants after their selection. For positions requiring a uniform, an allowance is allotted which may partially cover uniform costs. Procedures for Applying for Temporary Employment Applicants may apply for employment year round. Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP)
Share your Christian ministry with the millions of people who live, work and vacation in our national park, forest and resort areas. Be transformed. Learn and grow in your knowledge of Christ in a truly awe-inspiring natural setting. Recognized by more than 40 Christian denominations, A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) is an educational ministry experience for lay people. We bring Christ's message to people often isolated from immediate contact with local churches -- millions of visitors who come to enjoy God's great natural wonders. Our year-round ministry also reaches out to government personnel and their families, as well as thousands of seasonal and professional resort workers, who live and work in park areas. 10 Justin's Way Freeport , Maine 04032 phone: 207.865.6436 fax: 207.865.6852 email: info@acmnp.com
Become a part of tradition that goes back nearly a half-century. Founded in 1952, ACMNP is an interdenominational movement preparing tomorrow's church leaders. It's an exceptional ministry opportunity. You'll find your experience as spectacular as the settings.
When you join the staff of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks, you come to understand the important blend of worship and work that remains the hallmark of the ACMNP experience. Each member has a full-time job with either a park company or the National Park Service. You could work as a desk clerk, housekeeper, bellhop, store clerk, campground host, waitstaff or in other jobs typical of seasonal employment. The ministry seeks to be "all things to all" by working alongside the people it serves. Our ministry is both formal and informal. The formal involves leadership participation in the Sunday services of worship held in the park's campgrounds, amphitheaters and lodges. The informal ministry -- on the job and after work -- allows significant Christian witness to take place. Whether at work, calling on campground visitors, or exploring the park's wilderness, ACMNP workers always respect park and company workplace policies.
Qualifications A Christian Ministry in the National Parks seeks leaders of character who are followers of Jesus Christ with imaginative minds open to creative service. The Ministry demands maturity of thought and conduct. Participants need an ability to understand and live amiably with other people and other faiths. Opportunities are available for men and women from denominations or churches proclaiming the Christian faith. Positions are for both singles and married couples.
Finances There is not a fee to be an ACMNP staff member. Participants receive a competitive wage with room and board provided inside the park by the park companies. Most earn between $1,200 and $2,000 during three months, after taxes. When married couples participate, typically both spouses work. Participants pay for their own transportation to and from the parks; however, ACMNP attempts to arrange carpools to keep costs down.
Placement, Arrival & Departure Dates If you'd like to serve in a particular park, let us know. These choices will be honored as much as possible, according to your gifts and the needs of ACMNP. We give priority in placement to those who can serve 90 days or longer, generally between May and September. All ACMNP participants are expected to fulfill their commitments to their employers and the Ministry. If you are available to work with us for six to 15 months, we can arrange year-round and winter placements. The need for pastoral care in these communities is not limited to summers. Orientation & Support We encourage our staff to attend one of the regional orientation conferences held in the spring to better understand ACMNP and each member's role in it. We cover your expenses of room and board during the orientation. Staff provide their own transportation to and from the conferences, which are generally held in California, the Northwest, Texas, Missouri, Minnesota, the Southeast, the Northeast, the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic areas. Each park has either a full-time resident minister or a committee of residents (Ministry Support committee) to act as your support group and provide careful supervision. Their work is supplemented by nearby pastors and the National Office Staff. Many seminaries and colleges award field education credit for ACMNP experience. (If you seek credit for your work, please let us know on your application.)
